On the Road Beauty Essentials

On the Road Beauty Essentials

Sometimes, it is the little creature comforts that you bring with you from home when traveling that make all of the difference in the world. These five products have turned in to staples in my cosmetic case and I really can’t leave home without them.

 1. Aveda Shampure: When I switched from chemical based hair care products to Aveda, I noticed a huge difference in my overall hair health. (How ridiculous does that sound?) Shampure is a clarifying shampoo that is gentle enough that it can be used daily, so it both cleanses and makes hair stronger.

2. Lush Butterball Bath Bomb: If you get dry skin in the winter, these are my favorite bath treatments I have come across. The vanilla scented Butterball is loaded with cocoa butter to help heal dry skin.

3. Clarins HydraQuench Cream: Hi, my name is Lindsey and I am addicted to Clarins HydraQuench Cream. I feel like finding a face cream that actually works and doesn’t make you break out is almost an act of God and this stuff fits both of those requests. [Read more…]

Jet Set Style: Crossbody Bags

5 crossbody bags

As I am sure most of you have found, a crossbody bag is pretty much a necessity on long trips. They help me stay so much more organized than I would be with a big bag and I always know where my passport and wallet are located, too. I also like using them for a night out when I don’t want to worry about setting my bag down somewhere. Here are a few of my favorites that I have seen lately. I love the hot pink Tory bag for spring/summer and the neutral color of the Rebecca Minkoff bag year round.

Jet Set Style: Ballet Flats

Ballet Flats for TravelThis past summer when I was staying on the Italian Riviera for a few days, we happened to be visiting during the summer sale season (cha-ching). I am a bit of a shoe obsessive and scored the ultimate souvenir from my trip: a pair of black Prada ballet flats for about half of their usual price. Everytime I wear them, I can’t help but think of my Italian adventures.

Ballet flats are a practical and stylish way to travel, and I never leave home without at least one pair no matter what kind of trip I am on. These five hit quite a few price ranges, and are brands I know to be comfortable and of good quality.

Hotel Design Love: Tschuggen Grand Hotel, Switzerland

tschuggen grand hotel

tschuggen grand hotel

Well, I am completely obsessed with everything about this place. The mountainside atmosphere, contemporary exterior glass and the interior warmth make the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa, Switzerland everything I would want my modern ski chalet (or hiking chalet) to be. The hotel was built in 1970 which is responsible for the edgy glass peaks on the outside of the building. The spa complex has been recently renovated in 2006 and looks to have some absolutely insane amenities (see indoor pool above).

Perhaps my favorite feature of the property is the Tschuggen Express, a private mountain railway that takes guests directly to the slopes or trail in two and a half minutes. Talk about the perfect location! The property is also home to seven eating areas, including a cigar lounge and eatery in the spa. [Read more…]

Hotel Design Love: yoo Punta del Este

Yoo Punta del Este

Founded by designer Phillip Starck and entrepreneur John Hitchcox, yoo is an apartment and hotel design company that has properties in 24 countries all around the world. Last weekend, I took a weekend getaway after my business trip to stay in the yoo Punta del Este, Uruguay location for the weekend. It is hard not to be completely obsessed with their ultra glamorous decor and modern outdoor spaces that looked like they could be on the set of the next Hollywood blockbuster. Crystal chandeliers, mirrored furniture and blush colors were everywhere you turned, and the silver paneling throughout the common areas was absolutely stunning. I kept saying “OMG, I want this in my house” in every new room of the property I walked in to. [Read more…]
